Announcing Fall Mini Bloggiesta 2017

 mini banner

You heard it here!

2017’s Fall Mini Bloggiesta will be September 21-24 2017

Are you following Bloggiesta on Facebook?  We currently have a Facebook Page and a Facebook Group that are pretty active. We actually announced this year’s fall mini on Facebook last week, so that’s the place to go if you want to hear the earliest.  We are also pretty active on Twitter @Bloggiesta, if that’s your preferred social media site.

We need help!

We need people to host Mini-challenges and help with the twitter chat recap. You don’t have to have participated before or even know what you are doing. We will help you help us! Don’t be afraid to join in, everyone is welcome and everyone has something to offer.

Use the form below to sign up. We hope you will join in to make this Mini event a success.

Fall Bloggiesta 2016: HELP WANTED!

bloggiesta

Well hello there, everyone! MC here, writing my very first post as one of your new Bloggiesta hosts!! Woohoooo!!!! First of all, I want to reiterate how STINKING EXCITED we are to be taking over Bloggiesta. Emily and I are so grateful for all the support we received when Suey handed us the reigns, and we are ready to rock!

Now, let’s get down to business…

The Fall Bloggiesta is fast-approaching! It will run September 15-18.

That’s just a month away! And we need your help!

Here’s how you can help…

Host a mini-challenge… This is one of my favorite parts of Bloggiesta! We would love some new challenges, so let us know if you have any ideas! Or, you can revamp an old challenge! We will need challenges geared toward newbie bloggers, advanced bloggers, and everyone in between! You can find a list of previous challenges here, but here is a short list of some of my favorites:

  • scheduling posts (and even tweets) and planning ahead
  • what does your host do? (Help for self hosted bloggers.)
  • How to make Instagram work for you
  • How to make your blog Pinterest friendly
  • social media strategies
  • how to join and/or create a Twitter hashtag conversation
  • dealing with email requests
  • how to make Twitter really work for you
  • try a new reviewing style
  • how to contact publishers
  • blog hop reviewing
  • how to host your own blogging event
  • let us know how to use the coolest new app/feature/site that you can’t live without

If you’d like to host a challenge, please keep in mind that you will need to post the challenge on your blog the day before Bloggiesta begins which is Wednesday, September 14. You can host a giveaway associated with your challenge as well, but it is not required.

Host a Twitter chat… We will be having Twitter chats every day during Bloggiesta and we need hosts! Ideally, we would like to have the chats at a variety of times, so that people in different time zones can join us! We will be brainstorming ideas and announcing the chat topics closer to the event date, so if you have a topic in mind, definitely let us know! If you love Twitter chats, but don’t necessarily want to run one, you can…

Write a Twitter chat recap… We love to recap all the chats we have so that all the information we talk about in the chat is in one place. If you are interested, you can help us recap one (or more) of the chats so that we can share the information with everyone!

If you want to help in any way, fill out the form below!

We are so very excited to be hosting our very first Bloggiesta, and we hope that you will join us! Mark you calendars for September 15-18!

Thank you again for all the support! We love you all!

Signing off,

MC, Emily, and (of course) Pedro 🙂

The Future of Bloggiesta: Please Meet Your New Co-hosts!

Big changes are happening around here!

After nearly five years at the helm of Bloggiesta it’s time for me, Suey, to hand control over to others. I feel like I’ve lost the energy and enthusiasm needed to keep this event up and running and make it as awesome as it can and should be.

And so, in considering a list of huge Bloggiesta supporters, I’ve settled on a couple of bloggers that I feel will be able to continue the tradition and take over the event with confidence.

And so I present to you the new co-hosts of Bloggiesta:

MC from Blame It On The Books

and

Emily from Emily Reads Everything

These two have Bloggiesta to thank for becoming best blogging buddies and have always been enthusiastic and supportive of the event. I feel they will be perfect in keeping it going and making it even better. Let’s all show them support and when it’s time for Bloggiesta to roll around again! So come and party!

Good luck to you all! It’s been fun! And you know I’ll still be around helping out and participating!

Help Wanted for our Upcoming Spring Bloggiesta March 21-27

The week long Spring Bloggiesta (scheduled for March 21 to March 27) is fast approaching. How would you like to participate? Here’s a list of ways you can help make this event happen:

Be a mini challenge host. For this week long event we’ll need at least 15 mini challenges, but we’ll take more if there’s an interest. We have need of challenges that are geared toward the advanced blogger, as well as challenges geared toward those just starting out. We also like challenges that fit all bloggers, as well as challenges specific to book bloggers. Some recent requests for challenges are (and hopefully we’ve deleted the ones that have been done. Sorry if a few got missed!) :

  • FTP for backing up your blog
  • making a calendar/spreadsheet of book releases and ARCs
  • MailChimp tutorial
  • what does your host do? (Help for self hosted bloggers.)
  • Tumblr: do we want one? Do we need one? Please, someone explain!
  • How to make your blog Pinterest friendly
  • social media strategies
  • how to make your own stock photos folder
  • how to join and/or create a Twitter hashtag conversation
  • customization for Blogger
  • Google groups
  • more on Google+
  • dealing with email requests
  • how to make Twitter really work for you
  • how to make the most of your free blog
  • try a new reviewing style
  • how to contact publishers
  • blog hop reviewing
  • anything “harder” for those who have been blogging longer
  • how to host your own blogging event
  • how to use Buffer
  • host a challenge that matches up blogging buddies
  • host a challenge that gets people to critique each other’s blogs during the event
  • let us know how to use the coolest new app/feature/site that you can’t live without
  • any other idea you have that you would love to share!

If you’d like to host a challenge, please send an email to bloggiesta@gmail.com with your idea. You will need to post the challenge on your blog the day before the challenge begins which is Sunday March 20.

Be a Twitter chat host. We’ll plan to have at least one Twitter chat each day during this week. We need have them at varying times during the day in order to catch people in all times zones. If you choose to help, you will be provided with the login to the Bloggiesta twitter account and run the chat from there.  We’ll brainstorm some daily themes and then have each chat fit that particular theme. (We’ll have a kickoff chat, and a wrap up chat and then five themed chats in between.)  You’ll need to come up with questions to ask and keep the discussion going for an hour. If this sounds like something you’d be interested in doing, please send an email to bloggiesta@gmail.com.

Be a Twitter Chat recap writer. For the past few Bloggiesta’s we’ve written up a summary of the things we’ve discussed during a Twitter chat. If you’d like to participate by observing the chat, then writing up this recap (that day) and emailing it to us to post on the blog, let us know by sending an email to bloggiesta@gmail.com.

Be a Bloggiesta Twitter account monitor. Or in other words, be the person manning the Bloggiesta Twitter account for a day, afternoon, or evening to respond to people and retweet questions and etc. You’d be given the login info and be ready to man the account for your allotted time.  Sound fun? Let us know at bloggiesta@gmail.com

If any of these sound like something you’d like to do, or if you have mentioned already that you’d like to do a specific challenge (and we don’t remember) , or if you have another great idea of something you think we should be doing, please send us an email!

Thanks so much! We look forward to a great event.

Mini Challenge Hosts Needed for September 2015 Bloggiesta!

Dear Bloggiesta-ers!

It’s time to start planning our next Bloggiesta to be held September 17 to 20! The first thing we need to do is to come up with mini challenges and find bloggers to host them! Are you willing? Is this the year for you? Have you pondered an idea for several times now and really really want to share it? Now is the time!

If you have an idea, please send an email to Bloggiesta AT gmail DOT com.  If you want to host one but don’t really have an idea, here’s a list of some suggestions that have been made in Twitter chats and through the feedback form.

Let us know ASAP if you are interested! Challenges will be posted on your blog the day before the event starts, on September 16. Hosts can provide a prize/giveaway on their own if they want, but it is not required. Hosts should also be participating in general in the event that week and be available to answer questions from those participating in their challenge.

Thanks so much for your help and participation!

We’re posting the Twitter chat schedule here again to make sure you all see it!

People, E-presence, Display, Reviews and Organize, plus two miscellaneous themes for the weekend.

Here’s the schedule (all times in Eastern Daylight Time):
  • Monday March 23rd at 4:00 p.m. Eastern: PEOPLE: Giving and Getting
    Comments and Followers
  • Tuesday March 24th 7 p.m. Eastern: E-PRESENCE: Social Media Savvy
  • Wednesday March 25th at 12 p.m. noon Eastern:DISPLAY:  Side Bars and  Page Layout

Spring 2015 Bloggiesta Sign Ups

It’s time! It’s time!

Our first ever  week long Bloggiesta starts on March 23!  But sign ups start today!  Write a To Do List, post it on your blog, and link up in the linky at the bottom of this post.

But just in case you are new to  Bloggiesta, first let me ‘splain.  Bloggiesta is a blogging marathon (sometimes over a weekend, sometimes four days and this time one week!) where we as bloggers gather together to help each other work on all sorts of blogging tasks, stuff that we often put off and avoid. Or stuff that we’re scared of trying. Or stuff that we haven’t had time for. But during Bloggiesta all that stuff suddenly becomes fun! There are others doing the same thing ! So, it becomes a party! Wait, no. It’s a FIESTA! (To learn more, see our about page.)

There’ll be a list of Mini Challenges to work on, so stay tuned for those. They’ll be posted here next Sunday, the day before the event gets officially rolling. In the meantime, you can get ideas for your lists by checking out the past challenges here. Also, you can use this basic To Do List to get you started.

There’ll be a Twitter chat party every day of the event, each one geared toward a different blogging theme.  Thanks to a brilliant idea from The Book Vixen and with additional help from The Bluestocking Society, we’ve come up with themes that match our mascot’s acronym: PEDRO. . . People, E-presence, Display, Reviews and Organize, plus two miscellaneous themes for the weekend.

Here’s the schedule (all times in Eastern Daylight Time):
  • Monday March 23rd at 4:00 p.m. Eastern: PEOPLE: Giving and Getting Comments and Followers
  • Tuesday March 24th 7 p.m. Eastern: E-PRESENCE: Social Media Savvy
  • Wednesday March 25th at 12 p.m. noon Eastern: DISPLAY:  Side Bars and  Page Layout
  • Thursday March 26th at 9 p.m. Eastern: REVIEWS and Other Content Ideas (guest hosted by Jessica from The Bluestocking Society)
  • Friday March 27th at 9 p.m. Eastern: ORGANIZE: No Stress Allowed (guest hosted by Amanda from On a Book Bender)
  • Saturday March 28th at 2:00 p.m. Eastern: Books and Reading (guest hosted by Rachel Noel from Purple Owl Reviews)
  • Sunday March 29th at 3 p.m. Eastern: Feedback and Free for All

If you’re new to Twitter chatting, no worries. There’s going to be a mini challenge all about it! So look for that! We hope to see you come to all or as many as you can. It’s always a fun time!

And finally, time to link up your To Do Lists! Be sure to link to the actual post of your list, not just to your blog. If you have a Twitter account, put that in parenthesis after your name so we can find you there too! Thanks!

Winter 2015 Mini Bloggiesta!

Bloggiesta MiniW15Hey everyone! Our Winter Mini Bloggiesta will be happening in just under two weeks! Wow, does time fly or what!?

The dates are January 17, 18 and 19. That’s Saturday, Sunday and here in the U.S. a holiday Monday. This is an experiment to see how we like using a holiday weekend to do some blog business. For those not in the U.S. I guess it’s just a normal Monday which I know some of you like to use, and some do not. So we’ll see how it goes!

Also, mark your calendars for the Twitter chat on Sunday, at noon Mountain (that’s 2 pm Eastern!) We’ll just have the one chat since it’s a mini event and all. 🙂

Oh, and if you are interested in hosting a mini challenge for this event, send me an email at bloggiesta@gmail.com.

Be thinking about what you’d like to accomplish and get those To Do Lists ready! Then check back here next week for the sign up post.

Happy Blogging!
